That Girl public release
That Girl started as a little experiment in branching storytelling back in 2018.
I had been playing around with Ren'Py for a few years already by that time, and ended up with quite a few unfinished projects with no real set direction. I then decided to take a story idea I had come up for one of my other projects, Midnight Mystery Club, and see if I could flesh it out a bit more by allowing the player to unravel the mystery only through playing the game several times.
That Girl was born from that experiment, and initially was only a limited release to a Whatsapp group I helped moderate, with only 27 copies being downloaded in the time I had it available.
The response I got from those who played it was pretty encouraging, however, and I was urged to release it to the public, instead of just to the members of the group.
It took me four years to get back to the game, however, and after a few graphical edits and some text modifications, version 1.25 of That Girl is now finally available to the larger public.
Now, don't expect a work of literary genius. The main storyline of this visual novel is short (All the major decisions happen during recess at a high school). The good and perfect endings are very easy to reach, and frankly, quite obvious. There are also two paths that lead to the good ending.
What was important to me in the creation of this VN, though, was more about the underlying storyline, instead of the expressly implied story. There are many possible outcomes. Some of them will teach you a bit more about a mysterious girl in the protagonist's new school, while others may simply confuse the matter. But please, hang in there. All will be revealed eventually.
As a little hint, I suggest you try and discover all the endings. A little bonus might just be discovered if you do...
